Final Reflection6/8/2018 Before taking the digital photography class I knew very little about camera or taking great pictures. My knowledge reached about as far as using the rule of thirds, which I learned in video class. As far as photoshop was concerned I had only heard the name. Early on I found I had a natural gift for “lucky shooting,” I would take lots and lots of photos and certain takes would accidentally look professional. However, without any “training” I wasn’t good at lining up a shot and taking a great photo. Over the course of the class my knowledge of photo taking, photoshop, and the camera has drastically increased. As a student photographer I took advantage of the many opportunities to take photos and learn as much as possible about photoshop. I found that even with photoshop at my disposal I often would try to avoid it, setting and taking photos multiple times to create images that needed little to no editing. I took pride in my growing ability as a photographer and tried to take interesting and creative photos. Even if I didn’t use photoshop regularly for individual assignments, I still made sure if photoshop was in play, I would have taken advantage of all the skills I had picked up to craft my images. As a photographer I’ve grown a lot over the few months class and plan to continue taking photos as a hobby I’ve picked up because of the class.

Photo 7 - Still Life6/5/2018 I took photos of objects that could tell a story and leave the details up to interpretation by the viewer. Shutter Speed 1/30. Apperture F/2.8. ISO 160 I edited the tone, contrast, and color of the image to best bring out the focus on the watch. This shoot was not a straight forward and I found myself looking around for objects that could tell a story. I often had to move the objects and set up different scenes to best tell a story with the image.
Puns and Dictionary6/5/2018 For the Puns and Dictionary assignment we took words and phrases and made them into photos that explain them. My words are Diphenylchloroarsine and Electrolyte. My puns are Knotfest, A Song of Fire and Ice, and Track and Field. I really enjoyed looking for words and sayings to make photos out of and finding images to represent them. All the little tricks I've picked up using photoshop paid off when creating the images above.
Photo 6 - Black and White5/29/2018 I took images mainly of lights that had a balance of light and darkness. The images were then switched into black and white in photoshop. Shutter Speed, 1/160. Aperture, F/5.0. ISO, 400. All images were turned to black and white in photoshop. Turning an image into black and white can really bring out the best in an image. Utilizing light when taking images for black and white based photos really helps the visual appeal.
Photoshop 5 - Portrait5/25/2018 We took portrait photos in and out of the studio. In the studio we used a white back drop and lights to illuminate the subject. Out of the studio we relied on natural light and used a white card to balance the light on both sides of the subject. In post we put a frame around the two images and put them side by side for comparison.
Photo Assignment 5 - Macro5/24/2018 I took various photos of objects up close using zoom, aperture and shutter speed to really focus in on the subject leaving the background out of the image as much as possible. Shutter Speed 1/400. Aperture F/4.0. ISO 100 I edited color balance, brightness, curves, levels, hue and saturation to bring out the detail in the shot. learned how to balance zoom and distance to get a crisp focus without leaving much for a background.
Photoshop 9 - Multiple Me5/24/2018 We took photos of a setting and then took a sting of photos of us in the setting. In photoshop we edited all the photos together and cleaned it up to look like there are multiple me(s). We learned about cleaning up photos in photoshop and merging photos on top of each other.
Photoshop 3: Panoramics5/15/2018 For the Panoramics project I took multiple photos of a given area panning across the said area crossing each photo with the previous. In photoshop I merged them together to make the panormics.
